All about draft
"proper drafting
techniques"
Perhaps the
most important aspect in using a multi fuel
(or straight wood burning) stove is your
draft. This cannot be emphasized
enough. It is important that your
chimney or stove pipe is at least 2' higher than the
nearest ridge line on your home, workshop or garage.
It is also imperative that you have your chimney
cleaned once a year! Not only is it a safety
factor, but it will help ensure you have maximum
draft capability for a good, sustained burn.
Also see draft inducer.
Another factor is your flue diameter. In
larger stoves, it is important to go to an 8"
collar, vs. the standard 6".
